More Catching Up.

JUNE 21st
Dad.  Happy Father’s Day!!  I have found myself using phrases that you would use like ''that is what you get for thinking'' and stuff like that.  It is kind of funny  and I call things a dirty dog.  It makes my companions laugh.  Well happy Father’s Day.  Love Elder Esplin



 This next one was mostly a poem or story he liked.  He emailed us at 8:13 AM and I had not written to him yet.  I felt so bad.  He got so many letters that week because I felt guilty.

JUNE 28th
Hi.  How are you all.  I haven't heard much from you lately and when I checked email today the only one from my family was one asking if I was still here.  Well,  a member here showed me this and I thought you guys would like it.  


WHY I CARRY A GUN
My old grandpa said to me son,' there comes a time in every mans life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's When he becomes too old to take a whoopin', I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed. I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the
world. I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government. I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared. I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon. I
don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy. I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take
care of themselves and the ones they love. I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate. I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take a whoopin'.



JULY 7th

That sounds like fun.  I wish I could have been there.  (We told him a little about Grandma’s birthday party.)

I have to tell you something.  I got pulled over the other day.  It was the first highway patrol I have seen in South Dakota.  He pulled me over and gave me a ticket.  It was kind of funny  because I was going up a hill and the cop was coming down and i was at the bottom and I built up a bit of speed because I am driving a Doge Caliber (the worst car on the planet) and it is gutless.  So I see the cop and I didn't slow down or pull over until he turned on his lights.  He followed me about a mile before he turned on his lights.  I guess he thought I was a runner because after he came and got my drivers license and registration he asked me to go back to his car with him.  The funny thing is I have been praying recently to know if being a cop is really the job I want,  and sitting back in his car made me want to be a cop all the more.  When I was talking with him I was asking all kinds of questions.  He made me think about being a highway patrol.  So he wrote me a ticket for $105 and I should have gotten $125  because I was doing 76 in a 65 but he marked me down.  I have enough to cover the ticket but I may need to take some from my home card.   Here are some pictures.  I don't know really which ones they are.

JULY 12th

Richard told Christopher that he is just wearing his boot and perhaps waiting for another surgery. This is he reply to Richard.

 That sounds good.  I hope and pray you get feeling better but I also hope that you really do get better and don’t just feel that way.  Well I have been studying a lot about food storage lately and I think it is really important.  Here is a quote from President Monson "Many more people could ride out the storm-tossed waves in their economic lives if they had their years supply of food . and were debt-free. Today we find that many have followed this counsel in reverse: they have at least a years supply of debt and are food-free.”

Well, I don’t speed anymore and for that I am grateful.  We have seen more cops since I got pulled over than I have in my whole mission.  I saw like ten.  It is ridiculous.  Well, I will be fine.  I  found a 25 dollar gift card that I had put away somewhere.  And when we cleaned our apartment I found it.  We had to clean our apartment because the mission president came through to interview a older sister here in the branch.   Because in a district the mission president holds the keys of a stake president and Pierre is the last district in America.  It is kind of funny.  People have a hard time imagining how far we really drive out here.  Like when I get home I could drive from Salt Lake to home and it wont even phase me.  It is kind of crazy.

Well, I read this book called As a Thief in the Night and it is written by Roger K. Young and it talks about the last days and well it kind of scared me and made me wonder how we are doing as far as food storage goes.  I want to read his new book.  The one I read was printed in 1999 over ten years ago and I want to get the new one printed in 2010.  I think it will have a lot more about food storage and stuff and current events.  I think you should go to his website and read some on it.  Well that is all I have for today Love Elder Esplin
